The version we have in school measures baseline response times and then presents the child with some counting problems, and then some arithmetic problems. The children also identify whether numbers are more or less than each other even though the numbers might be visually larger or smaller (graphically that is). I have used it a couple of times, as we had a young girl in year 6 who was way behind her peers. However, she had memorised a lot of arithmetic facts by heart and had worked hard to be able to recall them as quickly as possible, without little understanding behind them, and so the result from the assessment was that she was not at risk. However, my professional judgement still led me to believe that she had significant and severe difficulties in grasping the concepts behind simple maths. So, as with every assessment, take it with a pinch of salt and use your wider knowledge and previous records of that child. Hope that helps.
