Article: [senco-forum] it's since I've been taking those oils

A dyslexia student, with a gifted intelligence as assessed by an independent
ed psych, was a complete non reader or writer on joining our unit. After a
year his reading age was in line with ability and age. He became totally
fascinated by books. He still struggled to write and producing three words
in writing took a large part of a lesson.

He learned to touch type, mind map and use description. His spelling
remained poor. We moved to producing work on a laptop - or trying to -
using Co:Writer. We discussed and planned story lines. We had fun doing
so. He was excited by the ideas. Then when it came to writing them on the
computer he sat and stared at the blank screen. When gently asked what was
happening or not happening he said, :I think of my ideas, then I forget
them."

Some weeks later we had moved onto producing three paragraphs and he was
editing his work, looking critically at the ideas he had used and commenting
spontaneously on whether or not they were in logical order. This behaviour
was so markedly different from staring at the screen that I asked what had
changed. His reply; "It's since I've been taking those oils."

He was on Eye-Q, unbeknown to me.
