Subject: [senco-forum] I.E.Ps

I wonder if anyone can help me with my daughter's I.E.P. She has an ASD and a language and communication problem. I understand about I.E.Ps being SMART and that targets should be achievable. Here are the targets Reading To infer a character's feelings in fiction through their speech and actions. I think this is something to aim for obviously but for my daughter understanding other people's speech and actions is a bit tricky! To me this is the sort of target she will probably be working on for the whole of her school career. There is nothing to say when this target might be achieved. How would you break it down into something that can be achieved. Writing To describe Character's feelings and reactions when writing a story, to develop confidence to use more imaginative ideas in writing, to consistently write in the past tense. Again I can understand why these are targets to aim for but they seem vast to me. (in fact these have been her targets for nearly 18 months now) The SENCO I know will ask me if I have any ideas if I 'do not like' the targets, and because I cannot think how to make these smaller, more manageable and achievable they will stay on. Any thoughts or ideas much appreciated _________________________________________________________________ Share what Santa brought you https://www.mycooluncool.com=
