Hi Greg I have been in post nearly three years and am still learning as I suspect are many of our colleagues out there. i have 204 on the register and 26 with statements and if the day was 48 hours long would not have enough time to do all that i would like. i consider myself fortunate in that i do not have to teach other than small withdrawal and intervention groups so with the aid of my admin assistant i am full time senco with Child protection and looked after children responsibility also. If the head feels that 3 hours is sufficient to do the role start keeping task/time sheets . write down all that must be done (statutory reviews etc ) and how long each one takes then when they eventually come running because something has not been done you will be able to account for your three hours and in theory be able to make the case for more time. As Ruth suggests elsewhere get your Union involved also . The head and assistant head consider that was enough time for me to learn the job, which was new to me. After working all the hours god sends for these disadvantaged/low attaining children, (not complaining - I enjoy doing it!) this is not enough for the head and assistant head. They want me out. I teach 18 hours a week - they have given me 3 hours a week to do the job (they are adamant that is enough time) - I do have an admin assistant, 850 on role - 84 on SEN register. > > So, the question is: is one year the normal length of time for judging? > > > > Greg _________________________________________________________________ Free games, great prizes - get gaming at Gamesbox. http://www.searchgamesbox.com |
