Hi Janice -- If you 'went for a statement' -- was it a written request for a statutory assessment?? If it was the LA have 6 weeks to decide and if assessment refused parents have right to appeal to SENDIST. If you did not put it into writing and your head won't sanction such ar equest -- advise parent to make written request -- standard request letter is on IPSEAs website. Basis of the request -- chlid not making expected progress despite relevant and purposeful school action and external advice -- and school does not have suffiecnet reaources to meet all of child's SEN -----Original Message----- From: Janrolnick at aol.com To: fionaamoore at btinternet.com; senco-forum at lists.becta.org.uk Sent: Sat, 9 Feb 2008 11:01 Subject: Re: [senco-forum] (no subject) I went for a statement recently and was told by my LEA that we should be putting 10hrs in place for SA+. This si obviously ludicrous - if you multiply the number of pupils at SA+ by ten hrs it would take up all our TA time - forgetting children with statements, EAL, and other needs! I too would be interested in the outcome of this one. Janice Rolnick ________________________________________________________________________ AOL's new homepage has launched.
