Ceredigion has currently SA SA+ SA++ ( enhanced ) and is about to have
another tier SA+++

For SA++ county does stipulate the equivalent of 1/2 hour a day (5 hours a
fortnight for those of you mathematically challenged) in groups of no more
than 4 -but as you'll know in secondary its how the timetable falls so may
well be larger mixed age as well as stage of learning groups and other
lessons have only 2 whilst the unfavourable timetable leaves us scratching
around to put another pupil or so in

This seems to me to have been dreamt up by the LA concerned. There is no
mention in the CoP about time allocation and the LA I worked for only
stipulated support time in Statements. It was up to an individual school to
offer the support for SA and SA+ according to need and resources.

But then, I have heard of LAs who have invented a stage between SA+ and
statementing (has various names, from SA++ to SA+ Extra), presumably to
avoid statementing, which requires them to provide something that is legally
binding.

Regards

Jean

 I went for a statement recently and was told by my LEA that we should be
