[senco-forum] criteria for SpLD tuition from LA

Hi,

I know there is an investment in SpLD planned for school in England, but this is not yet on the horizon in Wales so.... the LEA I work for is reviewing the criteria used to determine tuition for SpLD tuition by SpLD tutors from central resource. I was wondering if anyone could share the criteria (if any) used by their authority. Currently pupils scoring below the 5th centile in any of the assessments used receives tuition, but this is not necessarily resulting in tuition being delivered to the most appropriate pupils. As with all resources there is a limited amount of time available so criteria is needed to ensure that pupils receive an injection of support rather than long term extended intervention so that others may benefit in the future. Do LEAs have the same criteria for Primary and Secondary pupils?
