This is disadvantageous to those trying to take exams.

If you are visually orientated changing the layout of what is seen on the
screen can be incredibly distracting. I only have to accidentally move my
tool bar and all hell breaks loose. Fortunately my 11 year old is back
around 4pm and can fix it for me!

My husband is trying to upgrade my Windows, but I keep putting him off until
I have finished studying as everything is filed where I like it in Windows
2000, and when I try to use my laptop that has Windows XP not only does it
not feel right, but it offers me things in strange places. My husband works
hard fiddling with its internal bits so that the look and feel is a near the
old one as possible.

To expect people to just use notepad, or anything else they are not used to
just isn't fair. it is also not their normal way of working and surely this
should work both ways.

And my last school had "exam computers" - laptops - (10 of them - very basic
models) which did not suit everybody either.

And I rather think that they could only use "notepad" for their work - not
word - because notebook gives no help at all for anything.

Ruth
