So - can I use Word in xp and get it to read the text to me? We run xp, not vista, and we don't use apples macs. If you go into 'system preferences' and select 'speech' and choose 'text to speech'. You can then choose from around twenty four voices (my preference for clarity is Victoria). You can also set keys which activate text to speech etc. This is in OS X (Apple Mac). I think windows has something similar but it had nowhere near the same level of clarity when I last heard it.
