Thanks for replying, Mark.

The thing is - I have to work with what we have got. We don't have the money to run alternatives to the mainstream provision. I know 'one size doesn't fit all' but one size is all I have!

This is the problem with schools having a ones size fits all
solution to ICT, ie: its windows or nothing.

Windows simply isn't suited to the needs of all students (or
teachers).

XP will read your text for you but not as clearly as a Mac
(especially one using the 'Alex' voice in OS X Leopard). XP
might also have problems with pdfs where a Mac won't.

My advice to all SENCos is that ideally your students
(_especially_ those with dyslexia) should have access to
more than one type of operating system OS X Leopard (Macs
only), Windows XP (Macs and PCs) and possibly even Linux
(Macs and PCs). That way they can use the system that best
suits them.

Hope this helps.
Mark
