Have had an Asus mini-book for some time but have just become aware of a problem with Open Office and the Spellchecker because I personally never use a spellchecker on my documents. Basically - it doesn't work! RM are as useful as a chocolate teapot as "we don't support that machine, software or OS - you'll have to contact the manufacturer". But the manufacturer don't produce Open Office - its open source software and there's a lot of stuff on the web about it but finding the info you want is not easy. I have explored further and found that to enable the spellchecker you need to download a language module from the web. Did this via the Wizard menu as directed and the dictionary is now marked as available but doesn't show in the writing aids window under language modules - and the spell checker still doesn't work. Any ideas - I spent nearly six hours on various aspects of this machine intent on evaluating it for use in our service: Four hours trying to get the spellchecker to work seems a bit excessive. Have also loaned one to a dyslexic lad, but without a spellchecker it isn't much use to him! Has anyone had a mini-book, done this and got the spellchecker to work? Or got experience with the speelchecker in Open Office on other platforms? Apart from this one glitch with both evaluation machines all the responses have been extremely positive.
