Depends if you are the teacher who is trying to dress up to fit in! Also while I support the involvement of all children in educational decision making processes, if I as a parent are then blackmailed into spending L20 to hire something or hours and hours sewing on sequins then I think the parent is the one with the final say - however well I dress up 'guiding' them into making a choice I can cope with. One brave teacher at our school allowed her class to choose a character and dress her up. Can't remember what the character was but it seemed to involve coloured hair dye, lots of make up and scary clothes. So on balance......
