[senco-forum] Maths in secondary

I have a student this year who is on P scales for both English and Maths. They have 15 hours per week TA support in the classroom and 5 hours per week 1:1 teaching with me to address difficulties. They do not have a statement, but are at SA+.

I wonder, what is the lowest level in maths that a child entering your secondary school has been working at. Do the children that are struggling with reading/literacy have similar problems in maths. In secondary schools if a child is working at L3 or below are they taken out in small groups or are there enough pupils at that level to cater for their needs in a class. Is any support/teaching provided by a teacher or is all support through a TA.
