Hello Janice I posted most of this some time ago but here it is with an update to the bits we've changed. Hello This is what we do: Open Day in early October for 'undecided parents' primarily. This is a talk from the Head, Head of Lower School plus a tour during the day. Pupils can then stay for packed lunch plus an hour or so of activities. Head of Lower School visits all feeder primaries with pictures to introduce the school. Pupils from out of area encouraged to tour with parents individually. We do two whole year introduction events for pupils: a formal morning looking round the school with your tutor group plus formal activities and a 'getting to know you' day. Once they are here, we do a 'Beach Day' after about three weeks where they walk to the beach, do some geography and do more tutor group based team building. We have tried all sorts of transition activities but this plus the data we get from primaries, plus the primary information sheets, plus the parents' enrolement forms seems to give us what we need. I do more with some pupils and parents according to need. Most feeder primaries have their Annual Reviews at my school so I get parents on the site and meet them. (Transport without a car is a huge issue here) I also go to Annual Reviews for out of area pupils when asked.
