expanding the limitations of a person's thinking by first analysing a
person's existing use of language. That analysis can subsequently be used to
attempt to modify a person's language - to change the surface structure
(language) and thus to alter the deep structure ( linguistic representation
of the world) and so lift constraints on their thinking.

The process can begin like this.

P. *Everybody hates me!!*

NLP type response - *Who in particular hates you?*

P. *Nobody loves me*

NLP type response - *Who do you think does not love you?

The process gets a lot more complicated later.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing I know, but this might point you in
the right direction.

I have just finished reading a little book on the subject which you might
find useful. I didn't quite understand all of it, even though it's supposed
to be a simplified explanation. I think I need to read it again so please
do not shoot me folks if my explanation is not perfect.

Magic of NLP Demystified - A Pragmatic Guide To Communication & Change.
Byron Lewis and Frank Pucelik. ISBN 1-55552-017-0 Metamorphous Press,
Portland, Oregan.

Hope this helps.
