We had a similar challenge 2 years ago. We found, quite easily, a group of
children with similar problems if not as bad. They worked in a group with
an ancillary for about 15 minutes a day, more if she could fit it in. It
was run as a sort of club which gave it street cred and they did a variety
of activities:
follow my leader 5 finger exercises on the piano
Macrame
quilling
sewing geometric patterns
group button picture [sewing buttons on to painted background]
clay rolling and modeling, plasticene to begin with
keyboard skills
Hope these help. They are working for our child, and the success of the art
activities gives self esteem. Keyboard skills are vital I think, but still
at an early stage with us. I am hoping to get a dedicated keyboard for this
group to use. The success has been due to the enthusiasm and patience of
the ancillary, she has lots more ideas than I do, comes of being a cub
leader!
