Hi Louisa At the risk of being controversial: I would take her out of one lesson a day and spend the time 'chilling', developing vocabulary and taking time to listen to her worries in order to begin working on how to listen effectively in class. A child like this often 'kicks off' because they are in complete language overload and all they are learning is that school is too hard! Building in this quiet time has a huge positive impact on the rest of the day - and eventually she will be able to control the behaviour knowing that she has that quiet space with someone to help her. The pupil we initially developed this programme for can now tell us how imortant it was. He used to spend the first twenty minutes of his withdrawal lessons just sitting facing the wall to get himself to the point when he could re-connect with his TA. Serious effect on behaviour. i'm putting together some guidelines for her subject teachers. Any suggestions, thoughts, comments on this? Thank you for all your suggestions regarding the girl who is scared of PE. I have now set myself up as her coach. From now on, you can call me Mourinho!!(only joking) Luisa _________________________________________________________________ Share what Santa brought you https://www.mycooluncool.com Amanda Secondary SENCO Cornwall |
