1. Courses - Courses run by Access Training for Midday Supervisors, Welfare Assistants and Teaching Assistants

Courses run by Access Training for Midday Supervisors, Welfare Assistants and Teaching Assistants.

My experience is that these people are crucial to the support available for children with SEN and disabilities, but rarely receive any training (especially those who come in to school exclusively for midday supervision).

The courses are short sessions, run in local schools, many of whom act as a host school for the training and invite other schools from their area.

The programme, which is called "A Positive Approach to Working with Children" was designed and is delivered by a team of educational psychologists and primary teachers. The sessions are interactive and provide a good balance between tutor presentation and small group work and discussion.

There are 11 courses available and topics include: Managing children's behaviour in the playground, Managing children's behaviour in wet playtimes, Including children with additional needs in the playground, Positive Language, Bully Aware!

For details of the full range of courses and further information you can visit www.trainyourschool.co.uk or email enquiries at trainyourschool.co.uk
