We have done a few. This is a top of head answer but as I recall the first thing we did was to get the person who would be the link TA here to visit the primary on a number of occasions and gradually get to know the pupil and do some work with him/her. First it was whatever the class were doing and then more about change and what happens here. She took photos along and contact book and a tie and all those sorts of things. The next stage was his first visit here, it was arranged so he arrived and left between lessons and was safely in our base at lesson change. On this occasion he met just three adults including the people at Pupil Services who are on hand for whatever and he took photos of two or three areas. On the next visit (his TA there too) he took his TA to the three places he had looked at. He then did a bigger school look around and stayed for break in our room where children come at that time and a couple were briefed to talk to him. He took more photos and I think had a video recorder too. We just built it up from there so by the time the taster day came he was quite comfortable and confident and showed others where to go. Is that any help?
