Dyslexia as ever is about the discrepancy that is. It does not matter if this is High IQ with large disparity or as I have seen recently students who have been 'labelled' GLD, but which I am certain have dyslexia and/or sequencing issues. The difference is that those with GLD may master sequential elements and improve with more of the same teaching whereas those with SpLD or SpLD as well, don't. Both groups improve faster with dyslexia style multi sensory teaching and the only point at which I agree with Julie is in the constant daily assessment and monitoring in order to make support more appropriate and what will be necessary for personalised learning.
