Irony is completely lost on you, isn't it, dolfrog. So despite all of his hard work, until all of the assumptions have been eliminated, that is all he can be. Must admit not very good for his ego. Until there are no WHY questions to answer then we are still part of the evolving learning process. Opinion is no substitute for scientific fact, and event these can be disproved with new technology. So we evolve and so will our understanding of how we learn to read as the scientists develop rigorously tested theories with the new technology as it becomes available, or develops as a result of their research. What we know now leaves too many WHY questions unresolved, so they could be described the best theories available to us now, but this does not mean that they should not be challenges as this would prevent progress and evolution. Thirty years of research into reading dismissed in one word.... Maggie dolfrog at dolfrog.org.uk wrote: Hi Maggie There is no agreed working Model anywhere, there are some models proposed by some researchers, but there is not an agreed working model, that defines the individual skills required to perform the task of reading, how the precise methods that from birth a child used to develop these skills, and how these skills inter relate when performing the task of reading. There are many well know theorists who have to make assumptions to fill in their precise knowledge gaps, such as Stanovich, but we do not have the technology yet to provide a complete working model. --------------------------------- Sent from Yahoo!
