Hi Richard The new APD diagnostic test that the Medical Research Council (MRC) have the researching for the last 4 years are Sound Frequency based, rather than the old APD diagnostic tests which were language based. The best person to contact about the best way forward would be Dr. Sally Hind who is at the end of the Email form on the APDUK "APD Diagnosis in the UK" web pages at http://apd.apduk.org/adpdiagnosisuk.htm (look for the big blue button) One of the new assessment centres announced by the MRC is in Greece precisely to demonstrate and test that the new sound frequency based APD diagnostic tests are effective regardless of language preferences. We have a pupil who has trecently joined us who despite being in this country for three years has never been to school and has been at home with her Urdu speaking family. Added to that the family say she is Y10, but appears to all to be Y7 at the most (there is no birth ceritficate). She has no literacy skills in English she can speak only a few words. She can speak elementary urdu but not read or write it. We have spent the last month tryimng to teach her the alphabet but appears unable to remember what she has been taught from one day to the next. We are questioning APD. Any advice on how to assess her for APD? Richard No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG. Version: 7.5.518 / Virus Database: 269.21.7/1327 - Release Date: 12/03/2008 13:27 |
