Subject: [senco-forum] fantastic day with ASD - national competition

Just had a fantastivc day out with twelve pupils (13-16) three of whom
have
autism one with ADHD. They were entered for a regional final of the
National School's League competition organised by Games Workshop
(Warhammer).

One of my teams have gone through to the national Grand Final this
summer.
The team is captained by an autistic boy who through playing the game
has
overcome the social obstacles involved in playing against 'strangers' in
a
huge hall with lots of noise and activity.

It was great to see the beaming smile and animated sportsman like
discussions not to say skilled gamesmanship between him and other boys
from
schools from across the country.

it may be an expensive hobby - but his pleasure today was priceless.

Richard
