Article: [senco-forum] acronyms

My job title recently got changed to LDD Co-ordinator and, if I'm asked what
it means, I say "I know the L is for Learning, for the two Ds you can choose
- Differences, Difficulties, Disabilities or Development, I really don't
mind!" This lets me off having to try and remember what they're for, myself!

LDD is now, unfortunately, becoming well known due to the use it is given by
Ofsted, CPA Inspectors (they're the ones that give your council their star
ratings and no I have no idea what CPA stands for) and the famous Joint Area
Review Inspectors (JAR)
We've recently been inspected by all 3 in one month where I work. Our
problem was defining what LDD actually stood for. We have a large
children's centre, portage on site and one of the LEA's nurture groups which
includes children with behaviour difficulties. Trying to work out whether
LDD covered behaviour or not was a work of art. To be fair the Inspectors
were not ultra clear either so looked at us anyway (but it was very brief)
We are now trying to ascertain if LDD does include behaviour. As it
stands for Learning Difficulty and Disability it could go either way. All I
know is, it still won't change the strategies I use with them so I'll let
the arguement rage on and eat my Easter Egg
  Happy easter everyone
  Mags
