It is a good idea. Also try and get those teachers out on work experience.

School, college, Uni and back to school cannot give a balanced perspective
especially when dealing with parents with set working hours and/or an inner
fear of school/visiting the head that they may not even be aware of.

Doctors/nurses often suffer from the same type of institutionalism - They
arrive at work to a car park space, know where they are going, look forward
to gossiping with friends, know where the toilets /canteen are etc and
cannot then see why the experience is stressful for others -even if they are
only visiting, never mind being a patient.

It is hard to feel the problems of others if you have not experienced this
type of difficulty. Also to gauge the level of stress/fatigue in any given
situation for each individual. What is stressful for someone is not
necessarily stressful for others.

Subject: [senco-forum] Primary secondary transition

I chair one of my learning community senco groups. We recently had a
discussion about the transfer of potentially vulnerable children from KS2 to
KS3.
The lack of understanding of the workings of the 2 stages was raised and I
floated the idea of staff exchanges between the two stages during the summer
and
autumn terms - staff from primary to swap with secondary collegues to
facillitate better understanding.

Do any of you experienced people know of any such arrangements, or have you
been part of such a scheme? I know it is riddled with logistical problems,
but
it seemed to be something worth considering in more detail.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
