Ah, so u are using it for screening.
The enquirer may not have been looking for a screener.

Thank u for that explanation. So u can use it diagnostically.

Thank u for those examples.
They are very different from the Neale questions
of fact or inference.
A choice of 'grill' or 'petition' will not get a mark,
even tho u know that the pupil knows the required word
and could give it orally, but cannot recognise the spelling.

Ah, so u do have scores from both.
Do please set out some examples of pupil scores on both.
They measure such different skills.

I was thinking that Neale is rather old.
Published in 1958, I bought a reprint in 1972.
However I see from http://shop.nfer-nelson.co.uk/icat/2301072main
which is now GL Assessment, that there is a second edition,
with only 2 parallel forms now,
