Article: [senco-forum] Secondary SENCos: KS2 results compared to results of reading testing at start of KS3

I'm having something of a debate with someone about how closely KS2 English SATs results correlate to children's reading 'ages'. It is my experience that at the start of KS3 there is frequently a significant difference, particularly in the 'mid to low' L4 group.

Do those of you who test Y7 on entry find significant variation, or do you think that the two correlate quite well?

(As a 'L4' is supposed to signify achievement expected of an 11y old, I would expect the Reading & Comprehension Ages of L4s to be around the 10y 06m - 11y mark)

Would very much appreciate your help/comments.

Maggie
