Article: [senco-forum] Nessy

I have posted on this before, as have others - have a look in the archives.
In summary; Nessy is great for all ages because of great games and graphics.(not babyish looking) Includes loads of worksheets and games to print and make. Small steps of phoics progress v helpful. Can record own words
But... Limted number of games at some levels. Can't be "locked down" for independent use, there is quite a high fun :spelling ratio. Worksheets/printable games quite repetative.
So I would always want Wordshark as well.

Went to a 'good practice' session at the launch of a Dyslexia Scotland
event -
HMIe were there too ..

A few chosen school were showing how they do it -
I quizzed teachers and then bought Nessy - good for motivation they
stated.
Our Junior School uses it -
We are to a certain extent -
Buy one license and see if it will do the trick - I quite like it.

I often see Nessy mentioned on the forum (not the monster!!). It's just
beginning to be used in Oz and our school is wondering if it would be
worth
buying but know nothing about it.

I'd appreciate some general views, also wondered if it was research
based.

Thanks

Fiona
