Sending this again as received no replies just wondering whether it's been received by forum members. Dear All I'm sure we've had a thread like this before but here's my quandary. What do secondary schools do for pupils with poor literacy/numeracy scores? I ask the question because it was raised at a discussion meeting today as to what sort of curriculum these pupils should have to help them achieve? Currently we use withdrawal and Fresh Start in English but then they struggle in mixed ability groups in other areas. (Yes I know the word differentiation but lets be honest it doesn't always happen!) One neighbouring school uses a "primary" school approach teaching them in small groups with the same teacher... Any suggestions? What do other schools to do to ensure they are catered for, learn literacy and then consequently can cope with KS3 curriculum? Lorraine Lo |
