'Never look a gift horse in the mouth' - like any 1:1 attention it usually gets results. Would I, as a parent, pay for it- no. My old primary used it effectively about 12 years ago, but it is very expensive - 'reading recovery' only trained teacher for 1/2 hour per day per child for up to 20 weeks. Some catch up and some effect that lasts but if there is an underlying problem such as dyslexia then it does not always have the right or lasting effect. The same time spent on a dyslexia programme would be more effective. So try it, see what happens. If nothing else the improved self esteem is always worth having. Test before /after and 6 monthly remembering that the rest of class will be making some gains every year anyway. I know about it, how it works, etc, but just wondered what the forum thinks about it. Thanks Paula No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG.
