Article: [senit] BBC jam website

I got this the other day from James Webb at the BBC about the BBC jam
project

I did manage to make it work eventually....
I use the Firefox web browser and, of course, I usually don't read
emails passed the 2nd paragraph.
-for those who also use Firefox or Opera as an alternative to Internet
Explorer then there is some detail in the 4th paragraph which you should
read.
By the way exactly the same information applies to running the site
using the Opera web browser.

If you want to check it out I'm sure James would be glad of any
feedback, especially on its use with your pupils.

I'm delighted to announce that the BBC jam SLD Field Studies project has
gone live. Please dive in and explore the range of games and sensory
environments on offer. For more of a sitemap style view click on the
browse button at the top right of the screen. This provides you with a
list of thumbnails of every learning object within the SLD jam
environment.

Activities are grouped by town, seaside and countryside. There are eight
games to choose from and 10 environments to explore including a DVD
store, which provides over 120 video clips designed to help learners
with SLD to learn about the world around them. Of particular interest is
the 'communication' section of the DVD store, which includes clips from
the BBC archive and features a range of learners with SEN.

Clicking on the spanner icon within the player window will provide
access to a range of user preferences including various multi-switch
settings and sound schemes designed to suit individual learners access
requirements.

Please note that it is currently performing best in Internet Explorer.
Firefox users will experience a problem on the intro screen, which will
only launch games with a right click > play. We're working on that one!

I do hope you find the time to try the service and would like to thank
you for you continued help and advice throughout the project. There's
also more detail about the learning aspects of the games in the attached
document.
