Yes, i've actually been playing with this recently and have been impressed -
it is actually really good as a puff switch - blowing on the mic is detected
as a switch and yet talking isn't detected (I used a computer mic with a
stereo-mono connector).

You can also use it as a vibration switch, (large) muscle switch...

You can also buy a kit from maplins for less money (£10!!!):
