The Special Needs Fringe
10th - 12th January 2007, 9.30am - 5.00pm
Hilton Olympia, London

This year's Special Needs Fringe will have a resources exhibition with
product suppliers and advisory services, new hardware and software to
try out and a themed seminar programme to help educators get the most
out of their day.

The Fringe is well known for its intimate and specialist atmosphere,
free refreshments and somewhere to sit and chat with colleagues. It
takes place two minutes from the gigantic BETT show, providing busy
teachers the opportunity to visit both events in one day. The exhibition
includes suppliers of educational software, communication aids, computer
access devices and more. As well as companies from around the UK, it
attracts specialists from the USA such as Mayer-Johnson and AMDi.

This year, the Fringe will have themed seminars to help visitors make
the most of their time, with keynote speakers including Becta ICT in
Practice Award winners. On Wednesday the focus will be on Communication
in the Classroom. Thursday's seminars will look at Severe and Complex
Special Needs, while on Friday the focus turns to Supporting Pupils with
SEN in Mainstream Schools. Seminars are free of charge and visitors do
not need to book.

ENABLE Online goes live

The Modbury Group announce that the online version of their ENABLE computer is about to become available from any Internet enabled computer.

ENABLE is an online program for use in special education and EBD situations. It has been created by education and social work professionals to assist teachers, SENCOs and others with responsibility for children and young people with behavioural difficulties.

Using observed behaviours, ENABLE addresses the problems of children in an educational environment; it provides a better understanding of the young person's special educational needs and identifies ways in which relationships and environments can be improved so learning is maximised.

ENABLE is a special education resource, which supports:
The implementation of Every Child Matters
Inclusion
Emotional well-being
The implementation of the SEN Code of Practice 2001
School improvement

For a short period, users of the forum may try the program free of charge - http://www.enable-online.com/assessment/login .
