Article: [senit] using digital video with students

Digital Blue is very good for basic digital video work. The cameras are simple to use - one button to keep pressed to video, with option of single photos with another button. The video taken is easily transfered to the PC with a docking station, and Digital Blue comes with its own editing facilities. This is the part that most of my students enjoy most, as yuo can put the video clips together and add sound effects, music and special video effects - moving aliens, spaceships, skateboaders, fireworks etc...I have found that students can then enjoy using the editing part on its own, as it comes with stock film footage. The best part though is using the digital blue to create animations. I have done this for a few years now, with some excellent results, animation using modeling clay, everyday objects and cut out characters. One example is on website www.woodlandsluton.ik.org in gallery. I am putting a new one on but it needs some attention as I found out now its not loading correctly on the website.Steve HillWoodlands School Luton> Date: Thu, 19 Apr 2007 23:27:37 +0100> From: davidfettes3 at yahoo.co.uk> To: senit at lists.becta.org.uk> Subject: [senit] using digital video with students> > hello, have been asked to give series of lessons on> digital video (on windows)to more able students with> SLD with little experience of digital video. probably> as group lesson with lots of support.> (BTW thanks for the info on dig still cams with video> clip facility.)> > a *first thoughts list for the lessons was> > 1. using dig still cams with video clip facility.> 2. downloading & viewing these clips> 3. possibly simple editing (eg joining clips?)of these> in windows movie maker> 4. using digital video camcorder> 5. viewing live output on TV monitor> 6. downloading to pc with pinnacle or windows movie> maker> 7. simple transitions or editing?> 8. output as file or dvd> > how does this compare what you have done with students> with SLD?
