Obviously it all depends on what you want to do with them, but if you can I'd go for the iPod touch. You've got all the strength of the video feature of the iPod Classic, but you also get the brilliant touch interface (including the intuitive multi-touch features like using two fingers to zoom). And web browsing via Wi-Fi. We got one recently for one of our classes, and the pupils seem to find it very easy to use. In a way though, far more interesting than which model to go for, is the discussion about what you're going to do with the ability to use video, or combine visuals and sound. I'd love to hear what people are doing with iPods in their schools, literacy work with the pupil controlling scrubbing through the 'file', sequencing of still images with voice overs to explain, science experiments showing 'before' and after' that the pupil can go back over - what's everyone up to??
