If you don't want or need the screen then the player of choice is the zen stone - 1GB version can be picked up on the Web for around £18 - rrp is £28. Simple 4-way doughnut with power/play/pause nipple in the centre and slide switch on top to select modes although you need hardly ever touch this. Other than the on/off - play/pause button all controls are single function. It supports Audible files and unlike Ipods you don't need to use the horribly inaccessible Itunes software.

As long as you don't need to use it without looking at the screen.  (-;

I'm a 'jog-dial' non-believer - I can use my MP3 player in my pocket without taking my hand out of my pocket (quite handy in the current weather!), or whilst running without stopping... I also used to be able to do this with my sony walkman...

The reason is 'cause both have tactile buttons which I can easily discriminate between without looking (and one of my MP3 players tells me what albums I am browsing).

Although Ipods are amazing and cute, I think they are less usable but people accept this because they are cool. Bit of a theoretical argument though since they obviously sell millions!

Cheers.

Simon
