Article: [senit] Online SATs

The KS3 ICT e-assessment SAT test is being dropped as a compulsory test and
become a formative test which schools can use as part of their assessment. I
can't really see NAA funding new versions each year but I guess they have
done most of the basic design and programming work. See
http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/teachingandlearning/secondary/ks3/year9tests/ic
tpilot/ for more information. Accessibility in the 2006 pilot test was a
significant improvement on the 2005 test but wasn't switch accessible and
wouldn't work with programs such as Clicker or The Grid as, for obvious
reasons, it takes over the computer and prevents access to the Desktop or
Taskbar.

Is anyone aware of any special schools that have been part of the pilot
for the Online SAT's? If so have they been successful? Looking at the
layout is appears very busy and not very SEN friendly! Also does anyone
know if it is switch accessible or if indeed there are any plans to make
it so?
