Article: [senit] Typing tutor software for the blind?

I'd have thought if they were blind that it was all the more important
to have a special keyboard (eg the Maltron, see
http://www.dyslexic.com/items.asp?Cc=ERGKEY&iTpStatus=1&Tp=, commercial
interest declared), so that they stand a better chance of keeping
orientation than on a normal flat keyboard.

There are also training courses at
http://www.maltron.com/training/index.htm. They are unintelligent text,
ex-paper courses which look fairly accessible except for the graphics of
the keyboard. Combined with Text to Speech reading letter by letter,
however, they may be feasible.

But there is some good advice about using normal keyboards at
http://www.aboutonehandtyping.com/maltron.html which may be relevant to
you and they refer to courses that teach one handed typing on a normal
keyboard and also to HalfQWERTY, another solution. But how easy these
courses are for a blind person, I have no idea.

Hi
Can anyone help with the near impossible Is there any software which
might help someone blind learn to type - the extra need being they can
only use one hand

Thanks in anticipation
Patrick
