(subject to outcome of current job evaluation exercise) With growth of more than 50% to over 19,000 students in the last four years, UEL is a dynamic, ground breaking university rated in the top 10 modern universities for research by the Guardian. The Rix Centre for Innovation and Learning Disability is a research and development centre committed to improving the lives of people with learning disabilities through the use of new technologies. We have been awarded a grant from the AHRC through their joint initiative with the EPSRC 'Designing for the 21st Century' to run a project entitled 'Inclusive New Media Design'. We are looking for a new colleague who shares our creativity, energy, ambition and our passion for equality and diversity to help run workshops and carry out observations and interviews with new media designers, exploring the strategies which most successfully encourage them to design websites which are accessible to people with learning disabilities. You will have a PhD or equivalent research experience and have knowledge and/or experience of the web, qualitative research methods and one or more of the following: working with people with learning disabilities; web content accessibility guidelines; new media production; design and creativity. Preferably you will have a humanities or social science background and will be able to contribute research ideas to the project and compliment the expertise of the research team.
