BETT - stuff I liked: * Lots of exciting new Clicker resources - esp. Phonics (including some good early sound awareness stuff - based on environmental sounds and sound matching - not ready til March) and the new books they have brought out (some of which are not available til March) * Very inspirational seminars from Ian Bean and Pete Wells at the Fringe today, and also from Mick Walters (on Curriculum Design and ICT) from the QCA (yes really...) * BBC jam - some very exciting new activities for children with VI and HI (not on-line yet, and not for children with SLD, but if you know any BSL users.) * 2Simple City and Maths City * I'd seen most of Inclusive's offerings at a recent Information Day, but I'm very enthused about SwitchIt Maker2 and ChooseIt Maker2 - we have both in school already and they are being used with inspiration by some fairly technologically challenged teachers (I'm sure they wouldn't mind me saying as they are the first to admit). * I also liked the look of PaintING - my only gripe was that it is single user licences only, but I spoke to IT about that and they are going to speak to the developer and see if they can negotiate something * Pete Wells flagged up (and demonstrated) an incredible piece of software called Crazy Talk 4.5 and suggested some great applications for it (although they did not exhibit at BETT as far as I know, and it's not cheap apparently). * There was some interesting software from a company called Q&D Multimedia - designed for Early Years, but the content is not babyish - a couple of nice music creation programmes and some other stuff. Two of there offerings are even switch accessible. * Lots more stuff, but I suppose those are the highlights (I hope I haven't missed anything significant, there is other stuff, but having spent the last two days there my brain feels slightly addled and I need to do a bit of work pulling it all together) Claire Barnes Willow Dene School -----Original Message----- From: senit-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk [mailto:senit-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk] On Behalf Of david fettes Sent: 10 January 2007 23:16 To: senit at lists.becta.org.uk Subject: [senit] seen at BETT Anyone been to BETT? What did you see of interest? I enjoyed seeing amongst other things the new 2simple paint a picture which has lots more features than 2paint;sensory software's paintING (with sound, like the old Doodle) widgit communicate:sym writer .Inclusive in the fringe (Bett organiser denied all knowledge of it) had switchit wildlife, switchit facemaker. Choose-itmaker maths will save some time making support files. There is so much to see but the travel difficulties are irksome! What did you see?
