Hi David, FYI this is what other trainers provide: CENMAC training covers: INTRODUCTION This introductory course will show staff how to make grids and talking books using the programme, develop ideas for activities in class and how to use materials made by others available as free downloads from the web. ADVANCED This course will develop the use of 'Clicker 5' for those already familiar with the basics of the program. It will include: Using picture libraries Editing a master grid Creating a talking book Using pre-recorded sounds Recording sound Changing the grid layout Adding hotspots Adding video Adding grids to a sequence Adding pop-up grids Labelling Multiple choice activities Creating new grid sets ACCESS 'Clicker 5' will allow switch access through built in elements of the program. This facility has just become available. Watch this space for details. Cricksoft's own training is accompanied by corresponding booklets. These cover: Clicker 5 Introduction This booklet covers the main features of Clicker 5, including Clicker Writer; using and creating Grid Sets; Pop-up grids; and talking books. Clicker 5 Advanced This booklet looks further at the multimedia features of Clicker 5 and how it can be used for to create complex learning resources. Clicker 5 Access This booklet covers the range of access methods available in Clicker 5 and how it can be used to address the needs of a variety of learners. ______ My thoughts: Looking at your proposal, I think it is really important staff have an overview of the potential of Clicker, so your beginner level training is probably about right for some people, but I would include how to edit a grid in this section. It might also be worth covering downloading, adapting and using the online resources on http://www.learninggrids.com/SearchResults.aspx?siteId=1&p=1&sp=3&recs=10&pr ogram=1&searchAll=true (either beginner or intermediate) Access settings seems to be the other thing that looks like it is omitted from your plans - I don't know how relevant this is for your setting, but its essential to cover this if you have switch users. Learning how to set up group scans (row or column), as well as timings, scan border colours and thicknesses, etc. can be really useful for some users. Other than that I think what you have planned looks very useful. Is it going to be hands-on? I know this can be difficult with large groups of staff. If not, I think it is really important to allocate some additional time for people to have a hands-on play. Claire Barnes Willow Dene School P.S. I have had real problems with version 5.1 of Clicker 5. You can download a patch to upgrade to 5.2 from the Cricksoft website and if you are having problems, it might be worth doing this before your training (I couldn't set it to single switch user on v.5.1 amongst other things). -----Original Message----- From: david fettes [mailto:davidfettes3 at yahoo.co.uk] Sent: 29 January 2007 23:00 To: senit at lists.becta.org.uk Cc: sld-forum at lists.becta.org.uk Subject: Re: [sld-forum] auditing staff skills in Clicker,WWS,Powerpoint hello, time is flying and have to do training soon!Any thoughts on the following audit to get three groups for in -school clicker training? beginner Opening and closing Clicker Typing into clicker writer Using a clicker talking book Using a grid Using pop up grids Using labelling activities Saving files/opening files/printing files Intermediate Editing a grid Creating a new grid Linking grids Creating a talking book Setting the switch access method Using pre-recorded sounds Recording sound Creating a jukebox type grid Advanced Create a cause and effect sequence of grids Create picture building activities Using picture libraries Using forced order grids Changing grid layout Adding videos Creating labelling activities Create matching activities Creating sorting activities thanks david --- david fettes <davidfettes3 at yahoo.co.uk> wrote: > hello, sorry for cross-posting ,has anyone made a > checklist of skills (from simple to complex) needed > by > staff when using Clicker,WWS,Powerpoint with > students > with SLD/autism/PMLD - ?
