you are not alone.

take advice from the suppliers of the software with speech systems (Clarosoft / crick / softease ...) and then work out the sequence of installation of the packages.

I’ve been experiencing some problems with SAPI 5 voices on my laptop/tablet
recently; in fact I can’t get any of the SAPI voices to run. 

I have reinstalled programs such as TextHELP and ClaroRead in the hope that
this will reinstall the voices, but to no avail.

In my attempt to resolve this I have downloaded and installed drivers from
the Microsoft site (Speech SDK 5.1)…

…but this hasn’t made any difference. Some of the SAPI 4 voices work, such
as Sam, Mary etc, but when I switch to SAPI 5…nothing!

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
