[senit] Difficulties with SAPI 5 voices

Hi Dave

As far as I can remember this is the sequence:

Inspiration V8
WordTalk
ClaroRead 2007
TextHELP Gold V8
Penfriend
Dragon NaturallySpeaking Preferred V8

I have still to install Clicker, ClickerPaint, WordBar, ClozePro as well as
some Sensory Software applications, but I can't imagine they will cause any
problems. 

Once everything is running fine I'm hoping to add some vision software,
Dolphin's Lunar, JAWS, Thunder etc, so here's hoping!

I would also like to install some of the French and German voices so I can
demonstrate the language features in Penfriend XL but I'll do it a stage at
a time. I know Roger and Bob at Penfriend don't have any problems and have a
range of language voices on their laptops so I'm sure it's something to do
with my laptop.

I'm not being silly... we do get messages from some houses that their (or
someone else's) should have been installed first / later

No I don't think so. I have reinstalled much of the same software (in no
particular order) and all the voices work fine.

Just a quick note to say thanks for everyone for their help, particularly
Andrew at Crick. 

In the end I took the drastic step of reformatting my hard drive and
reinstalling Windows...all is working fine...at least for now!!!

you are not alone.

take advice from the suppliers of the software with speech systems
(Clarosoft / crick / softease ...) and then work out the sequence of
installation of the packages.

I've been experiencing some problems with SAPI 5 voices on my laptop/tablet
recently; in fact I can't get any of the SAPI voices to run. 

I have reinstalled programs such as TextHELP and ClaroRead in the hope that
this will reinstall the voices, but to no avail.

In my attempt to resolve this I have downloaded and installed drivers from
the Microsoft site (Speech SDK 5.1).

.but this hasn't made any difference. Some of the SAPI 4 voices work, such
as Sam, Mary etc, but when I switch to SAPI 5.nothing!
