Hi David I think because the vixy site is still a beta version there are some glitches. I have managed to convert quite a few FLVs, although now and again there are some error messages, or it just hangs. But otherwise the results are quite good, despite the actual downloaded size of the clips being on the small side. My mistake about vixy converting downloaded files as it only does online files. -----Original Message----- From: senit-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk [mailto:senit-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk] On Behalf Of david fettes Sent: 09 June 2007 14:13 To: senit at lists.becta.org.uk Subject: RE: [senit] AbilityNet YouTube update Hi Craig, the vixy site appears to only convert *online flvs? ie how do you get it to convert your downloaded flv? it also says it can convert direct from youtube urls but it just gives "Error: URL resolve error. (YouTube.com is down??)" even with its own example url. david --- "Craig Mill Assist-I.T." <craig at assist-it.org.uk> wrote: > I’m not sure how useful this is to the list members > but if you come across a > YouTube video and would like to download it to your > hard drive, then this is > an easy way to do it: > > > > Simply select the video to download and insert the > word ‘kiss’ in the URL. > For example, the URL for the YouTube Guided Tour is > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcZ-bAZtC34&feature=dir > > > > > To download the video type ‘kiss’ immediately before > Youtube, similar to > this: > http://www.kissyoutube.com/watch?v=dcZ-bAZtC34&feature=dir > > > > > When the download page appears scroll down to the > bottom of the page and you > will see the download link. > > > > If you want to convert the FLV file to another > format visit http://vixy.net/ > a free online converter.
