Article: [senit] Web cam for BSL Users

Light is important along with fps (frames per second)

We've been using webcams to observe clients in the assessment process
for some time and 25fps seems to work well

You can pretty much use any capture software to save the files - my
creative cam comes with its own software to save and edit

As with all things - try it in situ before going to the assessment

Subject: [senit] Web cam for BSL Users

I wonder whether anyone has any advice about recording a pupil's BSL
work
via a web cam. I've been asked to provide one for a Key Stage 1 BSL
user to
record his answers. Traditionally we have always used video camera
(which
is our accepted form for exam recording for all signing students) but
mum
says that is too invasive! Will the image be good enough or will that
be
very dependent on light levels? How easy will it be to store his work &
might this be a feasible option?

I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Ruth
