I've been experiencing some problems with SAPI 5 voices on my laptop/tablet

Is that XP or Vista?

Sometime ago I wrapped up the 3 redistributable SAPI 5 voices from the
 SDK into an installer for use with PowerTalk. I know that this Mike
and Mary to a plain vanilla XP and you are welcome to try it. Mind you
I doubt they do much differently to those you tried.

It seems likely that something has got corrupt in your installation,
perhaps you can uninstall the voices even if not SAPI itself?
