(a bit late, sorry - been on holiday).

It might end up cheaper/better to combine a digital camera with an IR remote
and either a simple Environmental Control (see the GEWA ones:
http://www.possum.co.uk/gewa_transmit.htm) or a simple 1/2 button standard
remote control  (e.g.
http://onlineshop.rnib.org.uk/display_item.asp?n=10&c=77&sc=213&id=3216&it=1
&l=3  or http://weemote.com/ )

That said, it might not be cheaper, but is another option.

We bought one from Liberator in the Autumn term - wonderful, my pupils love
it (although it is a bit on the flimsy side). BUT when I tried to buy more
last term they were no longer selling them. However, I have the wesite of
the company who make the same camera before it's been switch adapted and I'm
going to get one and see if the school technician can do the adaptation.
