I'm certainly no expert on voice recognition but thought I would throw in my 5p's worth .. - Interesting you state you have pain in your left & right hand although your using your left hand to operate the mouse - have you looked at the keyboard/keyboard position as well as the other ergonomic factors often involved in rsi? Dare say you probably have but for the record this PDF is quite handy: http://www.rsi.org.uk/pdf/correct_work_station.pdf - ViaVoice has been shelved by all accounts. Have you tried iListen ? - reviews are mixed mind you (take a careful read of the comments : http://www.atpm.com/12.09/ilisten.shtml ) - (this bit is biased given my preference) Buy a mac - if you have to go to windows you can - best of both worlds :) Sounds like running dragon through Parallels doesn't work that well given the poor audio (NB: its a minor point but parallels isn't an emulator - its a virtual machine (actually a paravirtualizer)) VMWare may be the other option worth looking at ( http://www.vmware.com/products/beta/fusion/ ) - Leopard (the forthcoming OS X update) will have some advancements to VoiceOver which look nice but this doesn't help with the VR issue. Saying this there are some rather interesting Apple patents that *could* evolve into something interesting ( http://www.macnn.com/blogs/?p=134 http://www.macrumors.com/2003/03/02/apple-patent-speech-recognition-improvements/ ) but don't hold your breath. Hope this helps All the best Will Catherine Hunt wrote: > Hello - This is a query for myself, rather than for a pupil. > <snip /> |
