Article: [senit] using digital video with students

This thread's a few weeks old, but I've very recently been trying to use a
pinnacle card and software to play back and record live DVB-T television,
and also to pick up the signal on other PCs on the network.

Every piece of software I've tried has been ropey to say the least

Does anyone know of a piece of software that :

Picks up all the channels and makes it easy to put them in a sensible order
Has easily configurable (and free) EPG
Doesn't crash when it encounters a radio station, an interactive station, or
a station that's off air
Allows you to pipe the signal to other PCs on the net

So far I've used Pinaccle Media Centre - versions 1.2 through to 4, and
various third party programs including some Open Source and shareware
stuff. None have been ideal

Any suggestions ?

If any one is wondering what this has to do with SEN; I'm experimenting at
home with a view to implementing on school network, as we've previously had
an old analogue cable connection which has more or less died the death - and
we're now faced with a large-ish bill to switch to digital, satelitte isn't
an option due to restrictions on dishes in our locality; and we could
presumably rig up a DVB aerial - but it might be as easy to pipe it to the
network rather than individual set top boxes - and that way we'd get it on
out white boxes.

Stephen
