hi we have canon mv600i and dazzle usb box which comes with a cut down version of pinnacle studio. On canon site it confirms that camcorders cant download full screen video to pc via usb. as our network computers dont have firewire sockets we have to use the dazzle box. when buying new cameras i would like to go for canon to make it easier for staff in terms of consistency . the chaepest model is mv890 from argos at £169. in order to add dv in - to allow recording back from pc to camera min-dv the cheapest option is mv930 £209 at dabs. I used to record back to mini-dv a lot and output to vhs but these days with output to dvd from computer i dont think it is so necessary, unless you are archiving as mini-dv? (also i am avoiding dvd camcorders as i have heard that the video quality is much poorer, and that setting it at the highest quality available you can only record 20 mins video to a dvd, and also that editing is difficult) is anyone using this combination of canon dv out only mini-dv camera and a dazzle box? are you happy with it? I noted there was some negative comments about pinnacle studio, but the cut down version comes with the dazzle box (£53) and i dont know of an alternative that works with it (i don't think dazzle recognises windows movie maker, and anyway that doesnt burn to dvd). Obviously an alternative is to use firewire with ibooks/imovie etc but we are keen to use our existing pc network to edit the video. david --- david fettes <davidfettes3 at yahoo.co.uk> wrote: > hi, we have used our canon digital video cameras > (mini > DV)with an apple ibook connected by firewire cable. > We > have started using them on the school PC network > using > a dazzle box which connects to the usb port on the > PCs > (they havent got firewire).
